The proceeding started well on time with Akmal Qadri, who enchanted all and sundry by playing his best feat the flute ‘bansari’, the most traditional wind instrument of the East, accompanied by tanpura, tabla and harmonium.

The event was hosted by Anwar Maqsood who started off with Husain’s introduction, followed by speeches from Mueen Afzal (Chairman) and Raza Kazim (Founder) of SNPET. Many renowned personalities from the corporate, political and social worlds graced the occasion. Through the course of the evening the guests also treated their eyes to Husain’s Paris suite that was put on exhibition. The guests were also offered to order the reprints of Husain’s paintings at the event.

Zehra Nigah recited from a selection of her poems, elucidating her impressions of Husain while Farida Khanum invoked the magic of her voice, through ghazals and thumris and Husain painted live to her music.

This was followed by the art auction of Husain’s donated painting that was auctioned at 5 million (Indian rupees), the proceeds of which went to the Trust.
