Jerusalem-a Journey Back in Time, an evening of performances through imagery, art, and dance using the powerful tools of photography and narration. Ever since Jerusalem (Al-Quds) came under Israeli occupation it has remained a hidden secret for most Muslims. Jerusalem is the crucible of the three monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam- with roots in the Abrahamic faith. “Jerusalem- a Journey Back in Time”, a documentary/narration/drama program, is a fascinating blend of, powerful images, script and narration by Dr. Iftikhar Salahuddin along with enactment of scenes and events through dance and choreography by Sheema Kermani and her troupe of Tehreek-e- Niswan and directed by Anwar Jafri. This creative presentation will take you through history from the era of Prophet Ibrahim around 4000 years ago up to the re-conquest of Jerusalem by Salahuddin Ayyubi in 1187. It ends with a poignant dance and a cry for justice for the Palestinian in bondage.

What does it cover?

Jerusalem will explore the city from the time of Abraham/Ibrahim till the present and discusses how this historic city was the centre of the 3 Abrahamic religions, its cultural and political significance and the struggle of the Palestinians to get their land back from the Zionist occupation.

This unique performance first took place in Karachi and is now being replicated by the team in Lahore at the Alhamara Hall 1, the Mall on November 24, 2011 at 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm. The performance is being reproduced as a fundraiser for the School and proceeds from this performance will go towards the Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust Higher Secondary School (SNPETHSS).
