Brief History: The
Universal Children's Day is a
special day that started on
November 20, 1959 when all the
nations of the world, the United
Nations, adopted the declaration
of the rights of the child. Today
is important because not all
children in the world have rights.
The adoption of the Convention on
the Rights of the Child and the
creation of Universal Children's
Day reflects the growing
recognition that children are
important and valued members of
society, now and in the future.
Universal Children's Day
celebrates children just for being
themselves. It reminds us that
children need love and respect to
grow to their full potential. It
is a day to listen to children, to
marvel at their uniqueness and all
they have to offer.

Project: Vision of me-Self
Portrait
Making a self-portrait is a
great way to express and explore
children identity. It's not about
what children's parents, friends,
teachers, brothers or sisters
think they should be. It's about
who they think they are.
OBJECTIVE
This activity aims to encourage
pupils to:
> Think and deeply
understand themselves
> To get a self-insight and
build self-esteem
> Think about differences
between themselves and others
> Begin to develop an
understanding of what a right is
