English department teachers of Sanjan
Nagar and an outside school are
conducting ACCESS
special English Teaching/Learning
classes along with Ms Freeha Shahid.
Thirty girls and thirty boys have been
admitted in two separate classes (for
2010-2011 session).
The English ACCESS Micro scholarship
Program is a U.S. State Department
initiative for non-elite youth in over
40 countries around the world. Under
this program, the participating students
will attend a two hour English teaching
class, five days a week, after regular
school hours. The first Access program
in Pakistan was started in 2004 in
Lahore and in 2005 in Karachi and
Peshawar. For more information please

Updates
November 17th, 2011:
Sanjan Nagar ACCESS students visited
the Access Centre CDG Girls High School,
at Allama
Iqbal Lahore Students were described to
prepare themselves for the group
discussion.
Following were topics of discussion:
1. Use of Face book. 2. Fashion trends.
3. Use of cell phones.
During the session, students were
free to speak in the favor or against
the topics. Students of both centers
were divided in to groups to discuss
relevant topics under the facilitation
of Instructors of both the
centers.
SNPET Access students prepared short
skit, cards etc and presented. Another
plausible PowerPoint presentation by
"YES Exchange" SNPET Students
Warda Shakoor, Sidra Shoaib and Ayesha
Zaib was given just to shared their

April 7th, 2011: Ms. Jennifer Larson,
ACCESS Program incharge for Pakistan at
US Consulate
Lahore visited Sanjan Nagar school as a
chief guest in the poster and movie
Session held at the school. She was
welcomed by the Access Coordinator Ms.
Fareeha Shahid. Ms Jennifer presided a
session with ACCESS students and shared
important US national celebrations. She
espacially gave detailed information
about Martin Luther Kind Jr. She also
encouraged students to ask questions.
There was friendly environment of
conversation of Ms. Jennifer with
students. Some posters and books were
also displayed. Posters focused on the
information regarding Martin Luther king
JR. and the lady Rosa Park. She also
applaused the enrichment activities done
by the Access centre through out the
first Semester. One hour session was of
movie related to King Martin Luther King
Jr. It described students that how king
fought for the civil rights of Blacks
without violence. Access Coordinator Ms.
Fareeha Shahid on the behalf of the
SNPET Access centre presented bouquets
to Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Tahira Habbib
both.
It was an inspiring session for both

April 19th, 2011: Mr. Willy
Oppenheim the founder and Co- Director
of OMPRAKASH
(connecting volunteers, class rooms and
communities) visited Access centre
Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust
Higher Secondary School. Mr. Willy who
is the citizen of United States,
explained about the US culture,
important celebrations and holidays. He
also asked questions about the culture
of Pakistan from students . He shared
his views while comparing between the
cultures of both the countries.
He explained the rights of females in
United States and the Civil Rights
Movement. He was presented souvenir made
by students of SNPET HSS. It was an
interesting session for the students to
talk and listen about the US culture.

April 13th, 2011: Second shift school
and ACCESS classes had their results
announced. Second term result was
announced in the second shift school
while, ACCESS school classes had their
1st semesters result. Around 130
ACCESS students appeared
in the exams.
April 8th, 2011: ACCESS School students
took their 1st term semester for the
first time sinc e the ACCESS classes
began in January, 2011. Around 130
ACCESS students appeared
in the exams.
March 24th, 2011: A speech competition
held at the school for ACCESS school
classes on the theme of "From
Vision to reality". The event was
organized by ACCESS coordinator Ms
Fareeha Shahid and Mr. Amir Yousaf. The
program was started with the recitation
from the Holy QURAN and the Holy BIBLE.
The basic objectives of this program
were:
o To enable students to express their
ideas confidently.
o To speak, listen and understand
English language.
o To know about the vision of the
country.
o To explain the current situation of
the country. 
o To realize their responsibilities
being the citizen of the country.
o To answer questions regarding
information related to country.
This was wonderful activity to boost
confidence level of the students for
public talk. Both girls and boys equally
participated in this program. They were
positive, eager to participate
dynamically, in this program. Quiz
improved their intellect. As this is
important part of enrichment activities.

March 16, 2011: A speaker
session was held at the ACCESS centre as
it is an integral part o f the enrichment
activities of the ACCESS program. Ms.
Faiza Shahrukh, Principal of the Sanjan
Nagar Higher Secondary School was the
Guest Speaker. She has done her Masters
in School Administration from the Beacon
House National University (BNU). She had
been a counseling Officer with the
Beacon House School System prior to
working as Manager Training at ITA (Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi).
She inspired the students with her
refreshing ideas. Her memories brought
laughter and
imagination as she spoke regarding her
upbringing and exciting travelogues all
over Pakistan and many other countries.
She encouraged and responded to
questions of the ACCESS students. In the
end she gave her message to the
students, "Education and training
are both important for the healthy
growth of the personality of an
individual; Play premium role in
community service, as you are the future
of the country; Learn good things and
practice these things in your daily
life."
March 19th, 2011: HSSC and ACCESS school
students visited the Dachhi Mela held at
Alhamr a Art Council. The objective of
the Dacchi Mela was to celebrate the
ideology and culture of Pakistan, Revive
and promote traditional crafts and
culture, unites the people of different
provinces on a common platform. Educate
and provide a learning opportunity for
children and adults to learn about
crafts, culture, etc Art Exhibition at
Alhamra was another opportunity for the
young and aspiring artists to be
promoted through Art galleries.
Miniature paintings, calligraphy and
other art works from all over Pakistan
were displayed.

March 7th, 2011: HSSC and ACCESS school
students attended children film festival
at Ali
Institute from 11:00 am to 1:00
pm. The objectives the film festival was
to:
- Provide an opportunity to young
people so they can express
themselves creatively about their
life and society they are living in.
- Facilitate them to reflect on more
global issues like peace,
environment, democracy and human
rights etc. through films and
media
- Encourage media literacy among
children and young people.
Following movies were watched by the
students:

3. Inukshuk ( France)
4. One rat shot(USA)
5. Air port tunnel(Portugal)
February 23rd, 2011: Prof. Saleem Ahmad
Saddique a well known English books and
Urdu verse writer visited the school as
guest speaker. He is currently teaching
in Minahaj University, Lahore. He shared
his life experiences with students in
ACCESS English classes.It was fruitful
activity on the part of students to
develop their confidence, enhance their
speaking and listening skills. Students
asked questions to him in complimentary
environment. Prof. also shared his
poetry with students and gifted one of
his verse books for the school library.
December 10th, 2010: Access
Section students organized a debate and
poster making competition on "Human
Rights Day". The objective of the
event was to: " 
- Create awareness of the human
rights issues "
- Enhance the oratory skills of the
students "
- Unleash creativity by making
posters with a message.
January 3rd, 2011: Access
students celebrated new year party here
in the school. Students shared their
inspirations and ideas by letting
everyone know their New Year
resolutions. They also warmed themselves
with singing few hit-numbers and a
dainty lunch.
